ExtremeSportMED is an International Scientific Association. It includes key experts from all over the globe and aims to promote and develop extreme sport medicine.
Our consulting team is agile, versatile and multidisciplinary and includes physicians, engineers, physiotherapists, researchers, and statisticians with specific experience in extreme sports.
It uses cutting-edge methods and technology, often developed in the experimental field and unavailable elsewhere.
In approaching foiling from a medical point of view, we should assume that foiling has transformed sailing into an extreme sport because it involves high speed and acceleration, exposing crews to the risk of high energy traumas.
For this reason, together with Foiling Week, we have set up the first scientific project on foiling to provide foiling event safety systems and guidelines.
Establishing a suitable system with which to study foiling is no easy task, as it involves so many aspects including environment-related variables and equipment but also human factors (physical, tactical and strategic).
This study consists of specifically designed questionnaires. These questionnaires require a few minutes to be completed and a researcher will be on the field, to assist you in compiling them. Questions are related to your physical performance and any injuries sustained.
We ask a bit of your time but you have the occasion to be involved in the advance of your sport. During the registration to the Foiling Week you will receive the Information Sheet and the Consent Form. Then, you will receive the surveys simply via wats up or via email, as you prefer.
Please answer all questions regardless of whether or not you have experienced health problems in the past week. Select the alternative that is the most appropriate for you, and in the case that you are unsure, try to give an answer as best as you can anyway.
