In order to achieve its statutory objectives, the Society:
- Promotes scientific research.
- Organizes and participates in congresses and scientific events.
- Organizes and promotes scientific editorial activities.
- Encourages engagement with sports federations and institutions.
- Organizes educational activities.
- Is committed to the technological transfer of research outcomes.
- Provides consultancy to athletes and organizers of sporting events.
- Conducts scientific dissemination activities (so-called “third mission”).
In order to pursue its purposes, the Association may also:
- Promote and develop:
- collaborations in the healthcare sector;
- research and clinical trials;
- development of guidelines, also in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Health, regional authorities, healthcare organizations, health service agencies, as well as public and/or private bodies and institutions.
- Promote the development and coordination of committees and study groups in areas of interest, including within institutional settings.
- Act at all institutional levels in healthcare planning and in the evaluation of outcomes.
- Develop, define, and standardize clinical and operational standards, including through the use of information systems and the creation of official data registries.
- Organize systems for the evaluation and certification of the quality of activities carried out.
- Collaborate with the Italian National Olympic Committee, the International Olympic Committee, national and international sports federations, and other governmental and non-governmental authorities and institutions in relation to:
- organization of sporting events;
- development of guidelines, recommendations, safety standards, and technical-scientific documents;
- data collection systems and incident reporting;
- consultancy and support for athletes, coaches, and strength and conditioning specialists;
- campaigns, projects, and educational initiatives related to physical activity, sports practice, and applied medicine.
- Collaborate with other scientific societies and associations, institutions, and public and private bodies in the development of guidelines, procedures, protocols, and diagnostic-therapeutic pathways involving physicians (e.g., general practitioners, physiatrists, sports physicians, radiologists, orthopedic surgeons) and healthcare professionals (e.g., physiotherapists, exercise and sports science professionals, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, and other professional figures).
